Michael Phelps Apologizes for Smoking Pot
It’s not often that two world-famous people (well, one famous person and the half-brother of one famous person) get accused of smoking/posssessing marijuana in the same weekend.
A photo released today in a newpaper in the UK shows Michael Phelps inhaling from a bong. The worst part, though, is that he apologized for it.
While I understand that he is at risk of losing millions of dollars from his sponsors as a result of this news break, this could have been a million-dollar opportunity (no pun intended) to make a statement about cannabis use in general. Clearly, if a true American hero like Michael Phelps occasionally tokes, not all cannabis users are lazy degenerates. Some are Olympic champions. (And others go on to be elected President).
